Silver Lining
#b8b1a5
Light, balanced gray with muted silver warmth
About Silver Lining
Silver Lining reminds me of the brushed metal edge on an old desk lamp: crisp, light, and a little dry. It reads distinctly cool-leaning compared to Ashes to Ashes, which carries a more noticeable beige softness, and it feels more neutral and tight than Desert Dune, which has that sandier warmth that shows up even in shadow.
In UI, this is the gray I'd use when you want a calm container that doesn't blur into near-white. Think documentation and publishing platforms, where headers need separation from backgrounds without looking heavy. It also holds up in product settings like device management screens or admin panels where you want clean structure but not clinical glare. Pair it with dark type and it stays readable; drop it behind photography and you get a steady frame.
One note: because it's lighter than Ghost Writer and less aged, it can feel more assertive in flat fills. If your layout is already airy, use it sparingly for emphasis bands and dividers rather than full-page wash.
