What is a monochromatic gradient palette?

A palette made of one hue only, stepping from a deep shade to a pale tint, for example navy through sky blue to ice. Because every color shares the same hue, the palette blends into a smooth gradient with no muddy in-between colors.

When should I use a monochromatic gradient?

When you want depth without adding a second color: backgrounds behind text, hero sections, data visualizations, and brand assets that must stay strictly on-palette. They read as calm and cohesive where multi-hue gradients read as expressive.

How were these palettes built?

Each palette keeps one OKLCH hue fixed and varies lightness across five steps, with colorfulness peaking in the mid-tones. OKLCH keeps perceived intensity consistent across the ramp, which is why the steps feel even.
