About Moonless Night
Moonless Night reads like the moment a studio monitor dims at the end of a long grading session, when the blacks aren't dead flat but still hold a little depth. Compared to Jet Black's slightly cooler, gray-bit restraint, this one sits a touch lighter and less "ink-cut," with a smoother, quieter presence. It also stays away from Italian Grape's muted violet cast and Black Magic's more pronounced purple energy, so the mood comes off more smoky-gray than styled-dark.
I reach for it in dark interfaces where you want the background to recede without turning into a void, especially in film and audio post timelines, shot review galleries, and editorial DAM screens packed with thumbnails and dense metadata. It's also solid for analytics dashboards and log viewers when you're trying to keep panels readable while avoiding that harsh, near-black contrast curve. The difference you'll notice day to day is that it doesn't fight your grid. It just stays out of the way.
Quirk: pair it with mid-light grays, not pure white, because it can make very bright type feel slightly over-crisp on high-contrast displays.
