Velvet Cosmos

Velvet Cosmos lands like a dark berry under a soft spotlight. It's pink-family, but the undertone stays distinctly purple-pink instead of drifting toward the red-leaning warmth you see in the warmer relatives. Compared to Eggplant and Romanic Scene, it doesn't feel bruise-heavy or airy. It's a touch lighter than Eggplant, yet less washed than Romanic Scene, with a steadier saturation that keeps it from turning into mauve muddiness.

I use it when the UI needs a quietly assertive accent that reads more "velvet" than "ink." Think subscription dashboards, creator analytics, and editorial CMS screens where hover states, badges, and active filters should look intentional without taking over. It also holds up in product cards and bold link treatments over near-black backgrounds, especially when you want the focus color to feel smoother than Clairvoyant's deeper, more anchored purple.

Pair it with cool grays and near-black neutrals; warm creams will immediately nudge it toward mauve, losing the crisp purple character that makes Velvet Cosmos work hard.
