Fern
#548d44
Muted fern green for grounded secondary UI
About Fern
I keep landing on Fern when the green needs to feel like living foliage, but controlled. This shade sits in the mid-range and leans slightly cooler than Avocado's ochre-y warmth, so it doesn't read like "grown material." Compared to Eucalyptus, Fern is softer and less yellow, with less of that crisp, leaf-bright focus. And against Hidden Valley, it's calmer in tone, not that scouting-clipboard middle green.
For UI work, I like it for product surfaces that want refresh without wobble: sustainability pages, fleet and logistics statuses, herb-forward food brand layouts, and map labeling where you need the green to stay readable over off-whites. It also shows up well in form states and chips on admin panels, status indicators in health platforms, and editorial motion frames where you want consistency across thumbnails.
One quirk: Fern can look a bit heavy next to very cool blues, especially in dark UI, so I usually pair it with warm neutrals to keep it from going flat. The result is the kind of green you can drop into real screens and trust.
