Hinterland
#616c51
Drier, earthy green for quiet, grounded sections
About Hinterland
I keep a swatch of Hinterland by my screen for the moments a green needs to feel grounded but not heavy. It's not as gray as Cactus, so it keeps more true green character, yet it doesn't carry the brown-leaning weight of Bancha. Compared to Herbal Whispers, it steps slightly deeper and a touch more muted, so it won't look like a soft paper tint when your layout wants sturdier midtones.
On work, Hinterland shows up well in packaging and brand systems where the background has to read "forest" without turning earthy. I like it for section panels and supporting UI on editorial sites, product detail pages, and documentation landing pages. It also holds up in print for labels and brochures in beverage and natural health brands, especially alongside warm off-whites and dark text. If you need a calm base that isn't as subdued as Cactus or as brown-synced as Bancha, this is the green I reach for.
Quick pairing note: push your highlights a little warmer, because colder grays can make it feel dull instead of settled.
