About Puddle Jumper
Puddle Jumper reminds me of the first few seconds after rain, when sidewalk water catches light but stays calm. It's a medium, slate blue that's lighter than Gothic and Arctic, with a softer, more watery feel than Horizon's dusk-gray balance. Compared to those nearby blues, it reads less reserved and less gray-leaning, so it doesn't sit heavy or vanish.
I reach for Puddle Jumper in dashboards for logistics and retail, especially on light UI surfaces where you need clarity without going loud. It works well for chart overlays, selected states, and card headers in operations tools, order tracking screens, and media libraries that show lots of thumbnails. It's also a good choice for background panels behind charts and maps in prop-tech and transportation apps, where you want "clean" with a little humidity in the tone.
The one quirk: because it's brighter and less gray than Gothic, it can feel a touch cool if your typography is too warm. I usually pair it with crisp, neutral text so it stays steady.
