Machinery
#9999aa
Balanced gray-lavender between steely warmth and bluish haze
About Machinery
Machinery always reads like a factory floor seen through smudged glass. It's that in-between gray that feels engineered and steady, not soft, not dusty, and not quite as heavy as Dark Ages. Compared to Dusky Mood, it doesn't lean as cool or muted. Compared to Dusty Chimney, it's less warm and less approachable.
I use it when the UI needs a neutral surface with a slightly restrained tone, especially in dashboards and finance apps where numbers and tables have to stay the star. Think panel backgrounds, dense settings screens, and the backing for charts in operations, logistics, and admin tools. It's the one you reach for when you want a consistent, medium-dark gray that holds its own near lighter grays without pulling the whole layout toward warmth or chill.
Pair it with crisp type and tight borders, and keep accents either clean and cool or clearly warm so the undertone doesn't look indecisive.
