The Grape War of 97’
#bb00ff
A rich purple violet for bold, modern headers
About The Grape War of 97’
On a dark mock, The Grape War of 97' reads like a bruised violet that's been lighted up just enough to stay readable. It's not the clean, laser-violet highlight energy of Spectacular Purple, and it's not the near-electric jolt of Neon Purple. This one feels slightly denser and more settled, with a cool-ish purple undertone that leans less magenta than the brighter contenders.
I use it when the UI needs a mid-light purple that still carries authority, especially for selected states that shouldn't look like they're screaming. Think streaming media timelines, channel badges, and creator-tool focus rings where you want visibility without stealing the whole screen. It also works well in dashboards and finance apps for status markers and step progress accents when you want a confident purple that sits between "too neon" and "too dark ink."
Quirk: because it's rich but not the lightest in the set, it can look muted next to very pale lavender tints, so I pair it with tighter contrast neighbors or slightly deeper companion purples to keep the hierarchy clean.
