Waxwing
#c0c2c0
Softer, warmer neutral gray with slight waxy calm
About Waxwing
Waxwing reads like a calm gray that got slightly softened at the edges. It's a little lighter than Metal, but it doesn't float; it stays quietly present. The undertone is cool and neutral with a faint, silky restraint, so you don't get the whisper of green that shows up in Silky Green.
Compared to Irish Moor, Waxwing feels more delicate and less anchored. It's also less "holds its ground" than Irish Moor, so it works best when you want the surface to recede a touch while keeping type crisp. I reach for it on light UI surfaces in EHR and patient-portal screens, intake forms, editorial sidebars, and admin tables where you still need structure without turning frosty. It's the the one you reach for when stainless chart elements sit next to softer content blocks.
Pair it with borders and text tones that have a bit more depth than you think. Too-close grays can make it feel flat next to the slightly steadier Irish Moor.
