Mothy
#cebbb3
Mothy taupe-gray with soft warmth, less cool than nearby shades
About Mothy
I keep noticing Mothy on gray-scale mockups where everything else starts to look either too sooty or too beige. This one feels like a light fog with a grainy, lived-in undertone, not the smudged-cool calm of In the Shadows, and not the more linen-warm neutrality of Dim.
Mothy sits mid-light and slightly muted, with enough cool balance to avoid turning sandy, but not so cold that it looks institutional. It's my background that holds tone in dashboards and editorial reading UIs, especially when typography needs to stay sharp while photography and charts stay calm. I also like it for product docs and research portals in media, logistics, and ops, where the interface has to feel steady across lots of screenshots.
Quick pairing note: it reads best with either warm-off-black type or balanced grays. Next to stark blue-neutrals, it can look a touch grayer than you intended.
