Steam
#dddddd
Lightest cooler gray, crisp mist for airy UI
About Steam
I keep noticing how this light gray holds onto its surface. Drop it behind a set of cards or a form section and it doesn't fade into the page the way Ghosted can. It's steadier than Kingly Cloud too, with a softer, more even feel that reads less steely and more gently matte.
Steam sits in that sweet spot for the one you reach for when you want "clean background" without the chill. I like it for publishing platforms where paragraphs need breath but the layout still feels anchored, and for UI shells in dashboards and finance apps when you're balancing subtle dividers, table chrome, and neutral icons. Compared with Hourglass, it's a touch more delicate and less paper-crisp, so it won't make your type feel too fluorescent.
Pair it with slightly darker grays to keep hierarchy crisp, and avoid drifting too far into bluish tones unless you want the whole screen to skew cooler.
