Race the Sun
#eef3d0
Sunlit pale gray with a yellow warmth
About Race the Sun
I keep noticing Race the Sun in the margins of light-gray UIs, the kind that looks almost white at first glance, then reveals a gentle golden warmth as soon as you drop in typography. It sits in the Gray family, but it's warmer than pure white without turning honey or drifting into the faint green that Final Departure has. Compared to Sprig of Sage, the undertone here feels less botanical and more sunlit, and compared to Praise the Sun it's a little less yellow-gold and more neutral-bright.
I use this as the one you reach for when your background needs to feel crisp and readable, but you don't want the page to feel sterile. Great for product listings and retail dashboards, admin panels with lots of tables, and CMS layouts where hero cards and quote blocks have to stay bright while photography still looks natural. It also plays nicely behind charts in content-heavy sites because it won't compete with blues.
One quirk: it can nudge other cool grays slightly toward warmer territory. Pair it with neutral or slightly warm text grays and it'll stay clean.
