Lotion
#fefdfa
Lighter, warmer neutral for softer gray systems
About Lotion
On a white doc page or a light settings screen, Lotion reads like fresh paper that's been warmed up by a kitchen light. It's a very pale gray, but not the kind that disappears into the background. Compared to Brilliance, it has more body and shows up on first glance instead of playing dead. Compared to White, it's less sharp and less demanding, so you don't feel that "front page" glare.
I use Lotion when I want hierarchy without shouting. Think product copy, quiet labels, and secondary navigation in consumer apps, e-commerce account pages, and editorial layouts where you still need clarity but not that sterile edge you get from pure white. It also plays well in light-mode UI for healthcare and HR portals, where the tone has to feel human.
Pair it with cooler grays from the family for dividers and borders, and keep it away from situations that need maximum contrast. It's the one you reach for when you want warmer than crisp white but less noticeable than Brilliance.
