Calm safety red for bold alerts and UI
About Traffic Red
Traffic Red is the red you spot on a rail yard signal housing, not the fruity flicker on a sticker. It's a little deeper in tone and steadier in temperature than the brighter ops reds, so it reads more "decided" than "noticed." Compared to Little Ladybug, it feels tighter and less warm, with less candy-glow at the edges.
I reach for Traffic Red in real-time incident panels and fraud or policy blocks where you want the interface to stop negotiating. It also holds up well for build pipeline failure states in dev ops screens, because the shade stays firm instead of drifting toward that softer, attention-only behavior. Versus Spicy, it's calmer in heat, less compact in punch, and more committed to a hard call.
Pair it with near-whites or neutral grays for separation. On very bright warm backgrounds it can turn strict fast, so give it spacing and let the neutrals do the lift.
