Whale’s Tale

I see Whale's Tale as a slate-blue with a tidepool chill, not the clearer, map-day cool of Oceanic Motion and not the tighter, decision-heavy darkness of Beyond the Sea or Grand Bleu. It's medium-dark but it doesn't clamp down. Instead, the undertone feels slightly murkier and calmer, with a lower-key saturation that reads like depth rather than power.

On product surfaces, it's the blue I reach for when you want emphasis without that "press forward" energy you get from the stronger neighbors. It's great for dashboards and finance apps when the UI needs soft hierarchy across dense tables, as well as in logistics and marine-adjacent branding where the mood should feel steady, not clinical. I also use it for secondary buttons, section headers, and row highlights on light layouts so the interface stays readable while still looking designed.

Pair it with crisp off-whites and medium grays. If you go too warm, it can start to look muddy; keep the surrounding neutrals cool to hold the tone.
