Inkwell Inception

Cool medium gray for readable surfaces and panels
About Inkwell Inception
Inkwell Inception looks like someone poured fresh ink into a dark slate and let it settle. Compared to Anthracite, it keeps the cool edge and doesn't flirt with warmth or "aged" softness. Compared to Back in Black, it's not whisper-black, it's a true in-between gray that still shows depth on layered panels. And next to Jaguar, it feels a touch tighter and more deliberate, less charcoal-cloud, more controlled mid-dark.
I'd use it as a primary surface for dark interfaces where you want structure without that voidy intimidation of near-black. It's great for design tools, music-production timelines, and media-review software UI bars where you need consistent contrast across dense controls. Typographic hierarchy holds up because the shade isn't fighting the whites or competing with cooler neighbors.
Quirk to note: it can feel slightly "smoky" next to pure cool grays, so consider pairing with a subtly lighter neutral for panel boundaries and spacing.
