Haiti
#2c2a35
Soft charcoal plum, warmer than nearby near-blacks
About Haiti
I keep Haiti on my dark canvases when I need the background to feel present, not punishing. It's a deep gray with a soft, cool-poised undertone, so it reads darker than the mid-grays without tipping into the heavy charcoal zone you get from Anthracite. And unlike Caviar, it doesn't vanish completely, it holds texture for type and panel edges.
In practice, Haiti is the one you reach for in media editing UIs and review tools where you're staring at thumbnails, waveforms, and dense lists. It also works in music production software timelines when you want contrast that stays steady during long sessions. Compared to Jet Black, this stays cooler and calmer, so labels don't look ink-smeared even under bright UI highlights.
Pair it with a slightly lighter neutral and a controlled accent. If you push it too far with warm whites, it can start to look a touch flat next to your brighter surfaces.
