Shuriken
#333344
Neutral charcoal gray, cooler than After Midnight
About Shuriken
I keep Shuriken in mind like a tightly machined gunmetal panel. It's a dark gray that doesn't drift toward purple like Black Magic, and it doesn't feel even-though-it's-dark warm like After Midnight. Compared to Coal Hard Truth, it's slightly more readable, with a calmer tone that still stays firmly in neutral territory.
For UI work, I use Shuriken in dark mode editing tools and log-and-trace dashboards where long lines of text need a background that holds steady without going flat. It also works well for streaming video app chrome, especially side rails and headers where you want contrast to feel intentional next to near-black surfaces. In a dev environment, it makes secondary containers look defined without the surrounding feel turning cold.
One note: because it's just a touch lighter than the near-black baselines, borders can look crisper than you expect. Pair it with mid-to-bright grays for separators, and let accents do the talking.
