Deep Forest
#3c463e
Slightly darker, cooler forest-gray for data dashboards
About Deep Forest
Deep Forest feels like fresh pigment on the edge of darkness: a green-tinted gray that holds onto moisture, not the muted retreat of Ancient Pine or the cooler, flatter neutrality of Armadillo. Compared to Charcoal's solid, almost "black-in-poor-light" confidence, this one stays softer at the center, with a deeper mood and a slightly greener undertone.
I reach for Deep Forest when I want the UI to feel grounded without going fully monochrome. It shows up well in design-system surfaces for creative tools, dashboards and finance apps where you still need hierarchy, and editorial product pages that need contrast without looking harsh. It's also great for video player surrounds and long-form reading backdrops where the background shouldn't compete, but should add a hint of character.
One quirk: push it next to true cool grays and it can read a touch more "forest" than you expect. Pair it with warm off-whites or desaturated olive accents to keep it in control.
