Royal Blue

Royal blue accent with stronger, cooler drive
About Royal Blue
I always picture Royal Blue like a crisp royal uniform stripe: it reads instantly as blue first, not purple, and it has a clean, medium depth that doesn't drift toward midnight like the darker blues in this family. Compared with Bluetiful, it's less midtone-glow and more "solid button blue," and compared with Arcane Brew it avoids that cool, weighted darkness that feels more deliberately moody. It's also brighter and more straightforward than the more purple-leaning Secret of Mana, so it doesn't need warm backgrounds to hold its nerve.
I reach for this when the UI needs a clear signal without looking like a legacy primary. It works in dashboards and finance apps for primary actions, table header highlights, and selected states that should feel confident but controlled. It's great in product marketing modules where you want a strong CTA that still feels trustworthy rather than playful. Theme it alongside soft neutrals and restrained grays and it stays legible as an intentional blue, not a compromise.
One quirk: on very cool grays it can feel a touch formal, so I usually balance it with slightly warmer neutrals or a hint of lavender to keep it from going stiff.
