Black Truffle
#463d3e
Deep gray-brown with low-sheen warmth for contrast
About Black Truffle
Black Truffle is dark enough to feel like a choice, but it won't swallow your interface. It's got a slight brownish lean, just enough to keep it from reading as cold, but the gray is still the dominant voice. Unlike Black Magic's purple cast or Chocolate Pretzel's warmer middle ground, this one sits lower on the value scale and keeps its cool without getting clinical.
Reach for it in dark mode layouts where you need real depth, design tools, media players, dark-themed dashboards where the background has to disappear visually but still hold structure. It's darker than Chinotto but without the purple undertone that makes Black Magic feel designed; it's more understated than that. You can layer UI elements over it without them floating, and type reads clearly because the value drop is steep enough to do the work.
Pair it with bright type or saturated accent colors and it stays out of the way entirely, the kind of color that proves restraint isn't the same as invisibility.
