Torrefacto Roast
#4e241e
Deep coffee-brown orange with drier roasty warmth
About Torrefacto Roast
Torrefacto Roast is the brown I notice the moment I stop using near-black. It sits in that deep cocoa zone, but it's not flat and silent like Bitter Chocolate, and it doesn't breathe red the way Couch does. This one feels roasted and dry, with a stronger brown body and a slightly cooler, tighter undertone that keeps it from drifting toward terracotta.
For me, it works hardest in dark product photography, where the shadows need weight without going muddy. In gaming UI and e-commerce overlays, it reads as intentional, especially for buttons, status pills, and label backgrounds that must stay legible against charcoal. It also earns its place on luxury packaging, where you want warmth that still holds shape across matte finishes.
Watch it next to bright oranges or creamy beige, though. It can look more ember-brown than expected, so pair it with near-black, deep grays, or an off-white that's cool-toned if you want the tone to stay controlled.
