Lynx

Lynx gray, muted cool brown with calm depth
About Lynx
Lynx is the gray I notice when a dark UI stops feeling gloomy. It has a soft, dusty depth, like printed fabric under office lights, not like raw paint. Compared to Bark's heavy commitment and Espresso Macchiato's flatter, more brown haze, Lynx stays more neutral and a touch lighter, so it reads steadier under typography.
It's my go-to base for dashboards and finance apps-adjacent work where you want calm presence without the warmth leaning beige. I use it for admin panels in e-commerce, logistics reporting, and CMS layouts that mix long-form text with dense widgets. It also plays nicely in card gutters and modal backplates where you need type that stays legible without looking harsh. The one I reach for when the rest of the palette is fairly warm but you don't want the background to carry the temperature argument.
If you pair it with very pale grays, it can feel slightly murky. Keep contrast by using off-charcoals for strokes and shadows, not pure whites.
