Cloak Grey
#605e63
Mid-dark gray with bluish undertone for shadows
About Cloak Grey
Cloak Grey sits right in that uncomfortable middle space where most grays die, but this one doesn't blink. It's got enough warmth to feel inhabited without the mauve creep that Chimaera carries, and enough saturation to actually show up on screen, unlike Concrete Landscape, which deliberately vanishes. This is the gray that looks like it belongs in the room, not like it settled there by accident.
Reach for it in product UIs, design tools, and editorial layouts where the background needs to stay present but unobtrusive. Dark-mode applications, preference panels, content cards, settings screens. It's darker and slightly warmer than Alley Cat, which means it reads less corporate and more lived-in. Pair it with bright type or saturated accents and it anchors the whole layout without demanding the center.
The thing: it's particular about contrast. Mid-tone text will blur against it. But get the pairing right, crisp white, bold accents, strong imagery, and you've got a surface that works harder than it looks.
