Merguez
#650021
Gutsy deep red with peppery warm undertone
About Merguez
Merguez reads like a sausage-spice red that's gone a little smoky at the edges. It's not as deep and wine-heavy as Merlot, and it doesn't snap as cleanly forward as Her Fierceness. Compared to Bordeaux, it feels less dark-room and more mid-depth, with a tighter, slightly earthier warmth.
On a UI, that makes it the the one you reach for when you need a decisive red that still feels grounded, not glossy or overly "crimson." I like it for checkout and subscription flows, fraud or policy warnings, and production dashboards where the alert shouldn't look like emergency stop tape. It also holds up in red headline bars in fintech marketing pages, especially when the rest of the palette is charcoal or warm gray.
Pair it with cool neutrals to keep it from turning too brick. Next to orange-leaning reds, Merguez stays clearly red, but it can start to feel warmer than you expect, so give it some restraint in saturation-heavy comps.
