About Volcanic Ash

On my screen, Volcanic Ash looks like a gray that got dusted with soot. It's darker and slightly more grounded than the mid grays around it, with a softer, less airy presence than Phantom and less calm blue tint than Night Rendezvous.

Compared to Catfish, it doesn't try to balance cool and warm. It leans cooler with a flatter, lower-saturation feel, so it reads more matter-heavy than "intentional" like Catfish. I use it when you need the UI to feel secure without becoming flat or fading: the one you reach for for workflow-heavy views in logistics portals, manufacturing control systems, and audit or compliance screens where panels should recede, but still anchor content. It's also a good backdrop for media libraries and video settings when the rest of the interface is already loud.

Quirk: next to Stormy Sea or lighter secondary grays, it can feel a touch heavier, so it pairs best with crisp text and a bit of spacing rather than stacking multiple mid-tones.
