Purple Rain
#7442c8
Mid violet with cooler, bright lift
About Purple Rain
Purple Rain hits my eye like a bruised evening violet, not a playful spring tint. It's deeper and more saturated than Lilac Spring, so it doesn't float or feel "laundered." And compared to Hokkaido Lavender's misty violet core, this one leans more magenta and carries extra weight, especially on dark surfaces.
I use Purple Rain when I want purple to feel night-mode confident without drifting into the bluer electric middle of Blurple. It's my go-to for key accents in music and video platforms where states need clarity, like selected ranges on timelines, active filter chips, and primary highlight strokes in creator dashboards. In editor UIs it reads decisive over neutral panels, but it's controlled enough for hover and selection layers when the rest of the interface stays quiet.
If you pair it with creams, keep the rest of the palette slightly desaturated so the magenta pull stays intentional, not harsh.
