Mamba
#766d7c
Mauve-leaning soft gray that warms the lineup
About Mamba
Mamba looks like a gray you'd find on the inside wall of a calm studio, not in a server room. It sits a touch dimmer than the cleaner, airier Excalibur, but it doesn't drift warm like Cement Feet. The big tell is its muted, slightly bluish cast, which keeps it from reading brown-gray and gives it a more restrained, thoughtful mood.
I use it when I want a surface that feels softly directional instead of purely backdrop. Great for settings pages and dense panels where you have labels, toggles, and small previews that need to stay legible without glare. It also plays nicely in enterprise admin screens and editorial UI where you want gray discipline but not the heavier, dustier weight of Paris Paving.
Pair it with type that has clear contrast, especially if your foreground is also gray. With thin strokes, it can feel a little too smooth and slide back into the layout.
