Velour Scar
#8e5164
Muted velvety mauve-red for secondary, less smoky
About Velour Scar
Velour Scar reads like a muted red drawn from old upholstery, not a fresh paint swipe. It's deeper than the brighter, candy-leaning reds nearby, but it doesn't go as far into heavy plum territory as the more violet-press options. The undertone feels distinctly mauve-leaning, with a slightly cooler, velvet finish that keeps it from turning cheerful.
I use it for healthcare dashboards and fintech alerts when the message needs to land serious, not loud. Think medication status chips, billing review banners, and error headers where you want contrast to feel calm and controlled. Compared with Cherry Berry, it's less "pulse" and more textile weight. Compared with Indian Silk, it keeps more depth without going satin-soft. And versus Royal Fig, it stays more velour and less smoky-violet, so it reads red first, plum second.
Pair it with warm off-whites or sand grays so the mauve tilt stays intentional. On stark cool whites, it can look a touch more dusty than you meant.
