About Steely Grey
Steely Grey reads like the gray that forms on steel when it's been undercast in daylight for hours. It feels firmer and cooler than Happy Cement's slightly creamy neutrality, and it's not as fog-dull as Lost at Sea. Compared to Grey Area's middle-ground steadiness, Steely Grey is more assertive, with less "in-between" softness and a smoother, slightly metallic calm.
I use it for data-heavy dashboards and finance-like admin screens where you want the UI to look organized without going blue or slate. It's great as a card header, table chrome, or the backdrop behind dense forms in logistics, operations tooling, and insurance workflows. It's also a solid choice for healthcare compliance views where you need the one you reach for when the interface should feel measured, not cozy.
One quirk: because the saturation stays low and the tone leans cool, pair it with warmer accents sparingly. If you mix too much beige or honey, the contrast can start to feel mismatched fast. Stick with muted, cool neutrals for a clean system.
