Rusty Heart
#a04039
Softer rusty orange, lighter and less brown
About Rusty Heart
Rusty Heart lands like a copper penny that's been held too long in your palm: a tight orange-red with a slightly dusty finish, not that clean, lacquer snap you get from Kabuki. Compared with Lumberjack's match-heat urgency, this one feels calmer and more contained, and it doesn't carry Mature Cognac's aged, wood-stain smoke. The undertone is distinctly reddish and a touch earthier, so it reads less "ember" and more "worn metal," with a medium-light presence that doesn't flare.
I use it for dashboards and finance apps callouts when the UI needs to look human but not reactive, especially for overdue items, review queues, and priority badges on dense dark screens. It also holds up in ecommerce where you want upgrade prompts that feel direct without slipping into warning language. If you're choosing between neighbors: the one you reach for when Kabuki would feel too crisp or slightly pink at the edges, and when Lumberjack would feel too immediate.
Pair it with charcoal, warm grays, or oat creams so it stays grounded. With very orange-heavy palettes, it can start to look a bit heavier than you expect, so give it space.
