Hazelnut
#a8715a
Richer hazelnut brown-orange for grounded contrast and warmth
About Hazelnut
On my screen, Hazelnut reads like an orange that's gone through a pantry: dusty, mellow, and noticeably browner than the softer terracotta neighbors. Compared to Clay's more open, clay-red warmth, Hazelnut sits lower in lightness and pulls in more cocoa-brown undertone, so it feels muted but not muddy, with less orange punch and more roast depth.
I reach for it when the UI needs warmth without that "orange hero" energy, especially in dashboards and finance apps where the accents should look grounded. It also works well in lifestyle ecommerce for card edges, tag pills, and quiet state indicators, and in editorial production for image captions and lower-third bars where you want orange presence but not the red-leaning snap you'd get from Amaretto or Equestrienne.
Pair it with cream, oat, and walnut. If you line it up against cooler grays, it can tip further toward brown, so test your exact background before you lock it in.
