Rouge
#ab1239
Deep berry-red that reads softer than Hot Lava
About Rouge
Rouge looks like a fresh lacquer swipe that still has plenty of light in it, but it doesn't go full signal-yellow like some oranges. It's red-forward in a way that feels deliberate, not molten, and it reads cleaner than the darker, angrier reds in the family. Next to Hot Lava and Hong Kong Taxi, it stays less orange and less "street dusk" and more like a controlled, vivid crimson with an easy, upbeat temperature.
I use it for dashboards and finance apps where the primary action needs to pop without turning into the weightier, alarm-like mood of Chilli Pepper. It's also a strong fit for e-commerce checkout cues and media player highlights, especially when the UI sits on light backgrounds and you want the emphasis to feel crisp, not caramel. If you compare it to Hong Kong Taxi, Rouge has tighter red undertones and a steadier look instead of that softer ride-warm blend.
One practical note: on very warm palettes it can drift toward appetite faster than you expect, so I usually keep nearby neutrals slightly cooler and avoid cream that's too golden.
