Malevolent Mauve

Deeper mauve-red for moodier secondary UI contrast
About Malevolent Mauve
On a UI mock, Malevolent Mauve reads like a red that's been gently pushed toward evening. It's not pink-first like Je t'aime, and it doesn't feel studio-clean and red-forward like Lipstick. Instead, you get a muted, cool-leaning mauve undertone with a slightly softened edge that keeps it from looking heavy-wine, like Fat Smooch sometimes can.
I use this shade when I need secondary emphasis that still counts as "red family," but I don't want the alert to feel urgent. It shows up in healthcare dashboards for state pills, schedule exceptions, and helper banners where the interface needs clarity without shouting. It also works in brand systems for dashboards and finance apps when the rest of the palette is cool or neutral and you want the red to sit back a touch.
Pair it with crisp neutrals and keep nearby hues fairly controlled. Next to warm creams, it can tip more purple than you expect, so I sanity-check against the actual header and surface colors you'll use.
