Buff It
#d9cfbe
Warm buff neutral, lighter and less earthy than Catacomb Walls
About Buff It
Buff It is lighter than Bone but warmer than Athena, which puts it in that awkward middle ground where you have to actually think about what goes around it. It's not quite tan, not quite gray, it's the color that reads different depending on whether your blacks are cool or warm, which is either a feature or a problem depending on your discipline.
Use it in editorial layouts where you want some breathing room but can't afford Bone's insistence on its own temperature. It works in SaaS interfaces, packaging, and long-form content platforms where the background needs enough presence to structure the page without the weight of Catacomb Walls. Type sits on it cleanly. Photography doesn't get strangled.
The thing is, it's more restless than Athena. That slight warmth wants to dance with what surrounds it, so your accent palette can't be careless. Lock down your blacks and your neutrals and it settles down fine. Drift into mixed temperatures and it'll start doing its own thing, which means it's telling you something about your color story, probably that you're carrying too much.
