War Paint Red
#dc571d
Softer orange-red for balanced, grounded UI heat
About War Paint Red
On my monitor, War Paint Red reads like orange-red paint that's been dragged across a warmer surface and left to dry a touch. It's less shell-bright than Langoustine, not as cooling or tomato-tinted as Frozen Tomato, and it doesn't keep Flame's crisp, lift-off energy. Instead, it feels more grounded and compact, with a slightly brown-leaning undertone that keeps it from turning sharp or purely "hot."
In UI, I use it for dashboards and finance apps when I want heat that feels committed, not dashy. It's great for primary buttons that need urgency without slipping into warning territory, especially on light-to-mid card layouts and commerce interfaces like product tiles, cart highlights, and checkout callouts. It's also the one you reach for when you need a stronger orange-red than Flame, but with less "spice" shift than the cooler tomato range.
Quirk: on very pale warm backgrounds, it can pick up a slightly earthy cast. I counter that with cleaner neutrals or a touch more contrast so it stays intentional, not muddy.
