Free Spirit
#deeeed
Airy pale gray with cool-neutral, subtle softness
About Free Spirit
This shade reminds me of fresh paper that's been left in daylight, not under a skylight that's too cool. Free Spirit is still a pale gray, but it's got more openness than Bone-Chilling's teal tilt and more "air" than Castle in the Sky's balanced coolness. It reads light without drifting toward near-white flatness.
What I like is that it stays friendly on screens. I reach for it in dashboards and finance apps where you want panels to feel calm, not sterile, especially for secondary sections, disabled form states, and the soft banding behind text in light or dark mode. Compared to Calm Waters, it doesn't carry that lingering warmth, so it won't skew cozy next to cream neutrals. It's the one you reach for when you need a soft neutral backdrop that keeps its composure beside both cool and medium grays.
Pair it with medium-to-cool grays; if you set it next to warmer whites, it can look a touch desaturated, like it's stepped back from the rest of the layout.
