Virtual Boy
#fe0215
Hot magenta-red for VR warning accents and UI
About Virtual Boy
On a dark mockup, Virtual Boy reads like a neon punch from a retro handheld. It's hot red with a clear orange bias, but it's not as toothy or urgent as British Phone Booth, and it doesn't sink into the syrupy, simmering feel of Marinara Red.
Compared to Fire Engine's action-paint snap, this one feels a bit more saturated and more toy-like in its heat. I reach for Virtual Boy in branded interfaces where you want a strong "look at this" moment that still stays playful instead of siren-serious: promo cards for streaming and social commerce, level-up or power states in game UI, and alerts on event dashboards where the red needs to pop without turning into pure panic.
Use it with control neutrals so it doesn't steal focus. On warm grays it can look almost candy-coated, so if you're chasing urgency, keep your surrounding surfaces slightly cooler and less orange-leaning. It's the one you reach for when the other reds feel either too businessy or too grounded.
