Cream and Butter
#feeea5
Buttery pale yellow-green for softer warm neutrality
About Cream and Butter
This is the color that looks like it's been sitting in soft afternoon light for hours, warmer than Clotted Cream, but nowhere near as bright as Buttered Popcorn. It's got actual butter in it, not just the idea of butter. The yellow is there, you'll see it, but it's grounded and muted enough that it doesn't feel loud on a screen. It reads less edible, more textile.
You'll land here for long-form editorial, recipe platforms, and publishing apps where you need something softer than off-white but don't want the clinical feel of true cream. It works on product pages too, especially ones selling anything tactile, linens, ceramics, anything handmade. Pair it with charcoal or deep olive and it gains weight fast. On a white background it'll disappear slightly, so test early if contrast matters.
The key difference: Banana Split pulled back the saturation until yellow almost left. Clotted Cream went further still, almost neutral. Cream and Butter lands in the middle, warm enough to feel intentional, restrained enough to not compete. It's the one you reach for when restraint needs a little personality.
