Soft Pillow
#fff5e7
Cooler, softer off-white for airy layouts
About Soft Pillow
I keep a swatch of Soft Pillow beside my usual whites because it behaves differently when you stack layers. It's an off-white that stays airy, not creamy-heavy, with a pale, almost milky gray cast that makes it feel lighter than the typical beige off-white.
Compared to Fatback's more committed creaminess, Soft Pillow doesn't tip into that beige presence. And unlike Dipped in Cream, it doesn't have that restrained, slightly more saturated warmth. It reads closer to a gray-family neutral, with just enough softness to keep cards and panels from feeling stark. I reach for it in editorial layouts where the page needs to breathe, and in dashboards and finance apps where the background should be calm under dense type. It also works well for e-commerce and wellness brands when you want product photography to sit clean without looking "warm filtered."
One quirk: on warmer lighting it can flatten a bit, so pair it with slightly cooler grays for borders and typography if you want crisp separation.
