The Vast of Night

Airy indigo-purple overlay for low-drama depth
About The Vast of Night
I keep seeing The Vast of Night in late-night UI mockups, like a rich stage light that's turned down just enough to keep the page calm. It reads clearly as purple, but it doesn't lean stormy-blue the way Dying Storm Blue does, and it has more presence than Deep Blue without drifting toward the near-black fade of Alone in the Dark.
This one sits in the pocket between ink and glow: deep violet with a controlled, slightly cool undertone, medium-light enough to stay legible, but not desaturated to the point of disappearing. I reach for it in dashboards and finance apps, and also in medical and industrial SaaS where you want a highlight that feels "wired" rather than loud, like active tabs, key chart series, or focused form states. Pair it with clean charcoals and crisp slates so the purple doesn't wash out or turn muddier.
Quirk: next to very dark purples, it can feel a touch more saturated, so adjust neighboring accents if you're trying to keep everything uniformly subdued.
