Gun Powder
#484753
Warm medium slate gray for softer headers than Coal Hard Truth
About Gun Powder
I keep seeing Gun Powder show up like a ground-off charcoal that still holds a trace of air. It's darker than Coal Hard Truth, but it doesn't go the deep, warm-leaning direction of Deep Night. Compared to Black Orchid, it reads more restrained and gray-first, less "inhabited" and more workmanlike.
In UI terms, this is the gray I reach for when the screen needs density without looking void-like. It holds up in dark preference panels, studio audio editors, and troubleshooting dashboards where you're juggling panels, timelines, and dense labels. The undertone stays cool and controlled, so it won't fight mid-gray overlays the way greys that are too close to true black can.
Pair it with slightly lighter neutrals and cold blue or muted teal accents, and you get hierarchy that stays crisp. Push it next to a warmer black and you'll notice the temperature gap right away.
