Venus Mist
#5f606e
Softer, slightly lavender gray for calm UI backgrounds
About Venus Mist
On my screen, Venus Mist feels like a gray that got its hands on the fogged glass setting. It's lighter than Alley Cat, so it won't weigh down a panel, but it also doesn't turn neutral and flat like Concrete Landscape. Compared to Smoky, it has less haze and more clean, steady calm.
I reach for it in enterprise dashboards and data visualization where you want surfaces that behave: industrial control rooms, manufacturing app shells, infrastructure monitoring views, and analytic cards that should support charts instead of fighting for attention. The mood stays cool and restrained, which keeps it from the restless middle-ground energy you get with Abandoned Spaceship. It's the kind of color that reads crisp under UI grids, especially for section backgrounds and divider bands.
Pair it with cleaner whites for type edges, and with medium-strength accents so the tone doesn't blur. If you layer lots of near-neutrals, it can start to look too polite.
