About Extraviolet

Extraviolet is the purple I notice when a UI accent looks like it has a little neon energy but still behaves like a controlled ink. It's lighter and more luminous than Galactic Purple, so it doesn't feel like night lighting. And unlike Fuchsia Nebula, it stays more violet than magenta, less flesh-toned and less "hot." Compared with Bluebell, it pushes brighter and a touch cooler, giving you that lifted, slightly charged feeling without going washed.

I reach for it in dashboards and finance apps where you need focus rings, selected states, and link emphasis that reads clearly on both white and deep themes. It also shows up nicely in streaming media interfaces for key controls and scrubber highlights, especially when you want the accent to feel intentional, not soft. Pair it with neutral grays and off-whites, then add a whisper of warmth if your layout is too sterile.

Quirk to watch: on very warm backgrounds it can veer toward a purplish cast that competes with berry accents, so keep the surrounding palette cool or truly neutral.
