Kabul
#6c5e53
Warm taupe-gray with calm, slightly dusty depth
About Kabul
A print I proofed recently had this gray on the sidebars, and it looked warmer and calmer than the usual office greige. Kabul sits in the gray lane, but it leans into a muted taupe-brown undertone, so it doesn't feel as lived-in and tentative as Caveman. It also isn't as earthy or raw as Morel, and it definitely doesn't carry the heavy, confident weight of Bark.
What I like is the light-to-mid value with modest saturation. It gives you a steady backdrop without turning into a foggy wash. I reach for it in editorial systems and content-heavy product UIs where the UI chrome needs to recede while the grid stays crisp. It works well in dashboards and finance apps too, but unlike Morel's settled dust, Kabul reads cleaner and less grungy, so controls look sharper. Think the one you reach for when lighter grays feel too cool, yet you still want a neutral that plays nice with warm photography and muted earth palettes.
Pair it with charcoal or dark umber text and you'll get contrast without the background fighting your hierarchy.
