Morel

Cool taupe-gray with subtle rose cast
About Morel
Morel looks like the gray left on a palette after you wipe your thumb on a raw umber rag. It's muted, but not flat, and there's a definite earthy undertone that keeps it from feeling cool or sterile.
Compared to Anchovy, it's less watchful and less cool toned. Compared to Namibia, it reads a bit more settled and less dusty-gravel warm. Compared to Caveman, it's slightly deeper and steadier, so it doesn't tip into that lived-in, deferential "background that quietly begs forgiveness." I use it for product UIs and editorial systems when you need a grounded neutral background that can sit behind interface chrome without stealing attention. It's especially handy in dashboards and finance apps that still want warmth in the base layer, not the ashy direction of lighter grays.
Pair it with clean off-whites or charcoal; with pure white it can feel a touch murky, like the page lost a little daylight. The one you reach for when the other grays feel either too cool, too gritty, or too tentative.
