I notice Moon Rock on a screen the way I'd notice a matte pebble in daylight: not chalky, not sooty, and it doesn't feel like a warm taupe either. It's a mid-gray with a slightly softer, dustier presence, leaning cooler than Gotham without going as muted and concrete as Lingering Storm.

For me, it's the one you reach for when you want the background to stay calm but still look "finished." In practice that means dashboards and finance apps where panels need separation, plus admin tools, ticketing consoles, and editorial reading layouts that run for hours. Compared to Hurricane, Moon Rock holds a steadier cool cast and reads less weathered, so your grids feel tighter.

One quirk: because it's a touch lighter than the darker neighbors, it can make deep red or amber alerts feel louder than you expect. I usually counter with charcoal type and cleaner border tones to keep hierarchy crisp.
