Lingering Storm
#858381
Mid gray with cool violet undertone for balance
About Lingering Storm
I keep picturing gray concrete after a storm, when the sky has finally broken and the surface is still holding onto cool air. Lingering Storm sits a touch lighter than Gotham, but it doesn't drift toward the quieter, inside-like warmth of Concord. It's also less taupy than Hurricane, with a steadier, cooler undertone that feels more like overcast light than absorbed weather.
In practice, this is the gray I reach for when you need structure without making the UI feel heavy. Think dashboards and finance apps, ticketing systems, and enterprise admin screens where panels need to read cleanly next to dense tables. It pairs especially well with charcoal text and crisp borders, and it holds its nerve beside muted blues and steel accents.
One quirk: because it's slightly brighter than the nearby darker grays, it can make saturated warm icons pop too hard if you don't give the hierarchy breathing room.
