Pompeian Red
#a82a38
Deeper Pompeian wine-red for grounded, warm accents
About Pompeian Red
Pompeian Red reads like a rubbed clay tile in shadow: earthy, saturated, and a little more grounded than the bright orange-reds that want to look like alerts. Compared to Chilli Pepper, it doesn't punch into dark, hot-as-a-warning territory. It sits lighter and more composed, less "heat," more pigment.
I reach for it when the UI needs a confident red that still feels hand-touched, not industrial. It's great for dashboards and finance apps where you want category labels and primary callouts to feel present without turning alarming, and it also works in media products for lower-third category tags and promo tiles that need to stay warm on white or cream. Against Desirable, Pompeian Red is deeper and less brick-wall clean, more wine-leaning in mood, but it keeps enough orange energy to avoid going fully maroon.
Pair it with charcoal, cream, or muted navy. On pale peach it can feel heavier than you expect, so give it breathing room with lighter borders and neutral type.
